Hehr Popup Vent, LaDeau Operator Removal

I searched and didn't find anything specific on my question, so here's a new thread. How do you remove the LaDeau knobs from the operators? One side cranks up fine, the other side will rotate but not jack the vent up. I took a look at the side of each knob and it looked like there were two allen-head set screws on the knob, but after a closer look they don't look to have set screws. I was a little reluctant to force them as I have heard the parts are a little pricey or scarce.

just pull them off...

My 1960 vent handles have the same two holes per handle- there's nothing in the holes... just rock and pull down and they will pop off (there's a spring loaded ball in the shaft that holds them on and aligns with one of the holes).
