Fantastic Vent lift motor replacement
The Fantastic Vent dome lift motor on our '98 Excella stopped working and I discovered that the plastic gear mechanisim had disintegrated. For others that may have this problem....the new version of the lift motor fits perfectly and installs in seconds...two screws, connect wires and all done. Works like new. $50 on eBay. Photo is of the old and new side by side and the installed motor.

If you take the time to call Fantastic Vent in Michigan, and explain the problem to them, chances are, they will send you one at no charge, or a very fair price.....they replaced mine a couple years ago.
Great people to deal with.

I believe they changed ownership recently, and the lifetime warranty issue is no longer valid. Others may know more.

We replaced ours earlier this year.....not for free, but $75 or so and they got it right out.

No more lifetime warranty? What a shame. That is part of what made them so fantastic. I hope that product quality doesn't suffer as well.

Atwood/Fantastic Vent replaced this part for us for free, last September (2013), three years after Atwood bought out Fantastic Vent in 2010.
Has anyone checked recently to see if Atwood has actually starting charging for FantasticFan replacement parts? -- They might still be sending them out for free...
Note: In another similar thread, I noticed that the fan motor in current products has changed. Just guessing, but I'll bet they found a cheaper source. Time will tell, if it's as reliable.
Too bad, manufacturers won't leave well-enough alone. I'd be willing to pay a little more for the old, more-reliable products.
My wife and I have a 35+ year-old Maytag washer/dryer pair that still run great (although, I had to replace a couple of minor parts last year). The Maytag name was sold years ago; and the current washer and dryer models are identical to several other brands, except for the stick-on logo. Unfortunately, Maytags now last no longer than the other brands, typically 7-10 years before being dumped in the recycle bin.
I hope Fantastic Vent doesn't follow the same pattern as many other US brands.

Atwood replaced a fuse holder free for me a while back (minor part) and I recently needed the crank assembly and motor that is referenced at the top of this thread. It's on the way - I think they charged me about $20...
