There are several very extensive threads that go into answering your exact question.

Silicone is not aluminum friendly and IF you ever have to reseal anything, you can not if silicone has been used previously. All traces of it must be removed prior to using any other product, especially........more silicone.

Polyurethanes (SikaFlex 221) and silane terminated polymers (SikaFlex 715) have repeatedly shown their bond strength and longevity in RV applications.
