Fantastic Fan

I'm thinking about putting in a Fantastic Fan in my 2004 Safari. Should I put it in the bedroom or the living area? I"m looking at the 5000 model. Are they worth the $$?

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

We have a 2005 Safari 25FB, named Lucy. Lucy came new with a Fantastic Fan installed in the living area. We liked it so much that we replaced the vent in the bedroom with a second Fantastic Fan. They are both great and have operated flawlessly. I think that I like the one in the bedroom better. We usually use our Fantastic Fans to suck air out of the trailer. Turn the fan on in the bedroom and crack a window over the dinette, and the trailer is fully ventilated. We have also used the bedroom fan to blow in on the bed when it's not quite hot enough for air conditioning. Our bedroom Fantastic Fan is the 6600 model with the remote control feature. This feature is super for fan adjustments without getting out of bed. It was worth evry penny of the extra cost.

I agree with BradS. We installed 2 units, usually use one moving the air in and one pushing the air out, this will replenish the air inside quickly. Service is impecable. It does close when it rains, WHAT A FANTASTIC FAN!!

I will be the lone voice of dissent, but not on the quality of the product. Put the fan in the living room. The fan, while very quiet, does generate a small amount of noise that may keep you awake.

In a trailer your length I'd put two in...and have them both be reversible... We have a 19' Bambi which came with a single Fantastic Vent in the front vent, but it only had one direction...blowing out... Were going to put a second FVent in over the bed where there is just a vent, but decided to try another solution first... W changed the switch out on the forward Fantastic Vent so that it will blow both in and out...and we are pleased with the results... Because our space is not that large, we can control the air flow quite nicely with one fan that blows either direction... By the way, I rewired the fan as needed and changed out the switch myself...and if I can do it, anyone can do it. Byt the way, we don't find the FVent bothersome in terms of sleeping...they are quite and what noise it does makes just becomes background.... Don't forget, too, that you can have the vent open without the fan running if you want... We recommend the rain sensor model, too...very cool.

Hi, I only have one Fantastic Vent in my trailer and it is in the living room area. If I open both vents, the amount of air blowing out of the front is about the same as the amount of air coming in the rear vent. So one power vent is enough, but two could still be nice. Their customer service can't be matched by anyone, but I have read that the family owned business has recently changed hands. So, if this is true, I don't know how well the customer service will be in the future. Anyone here who can verify this rumor?

I guess I have to be different, I put a Maxx Air in the bedroom. All the features of Fantastic except the rain sensor that it dont need. Have had it working in all kinds of weather and under way. Its a few $$ more, but its worth considering. Sal.

the noise is the very reason to put it in the bedroom. The white noise is divine. I love the product so much that they go in every customers vent opening with out question.

Get Both with senors Temp/Rain and a Max Air Cover over the one in the Bedroom. The Max Air cover prevents the cycling of the open/close cycle of the rain sensor. Awesome ,a must have.

I put a Fantastic Vent in my living room with rain and temp sensors. Since it replaced a light vent combo I put a light fixture next to it. No cover over the vent as the swept back design of the MaxxAir would have been in the way of the fully raised TV antenna. Your trailer's roof layout may vary but check that out before purchasing a cover.

I didn't want a skylight in the bedroom but wanted some sort of power vent back there so I replaced the light vent combo with a modern RV roof vent with a metal lid, covered with a MaxxAir Turbo Max fan. It's a large swept back thing and not really pretty. However, it runs rain or shine, you can keep the vent open no matter what, 3-speed fan with temperature control. Again I put a light next to it.

This fan may be phased out for the more popular and more stealthy MaxxFan or similar name that telescopes up into a large hood when raised.

If you have any questions as to which model will best serve your needs, give Fantastic a call. They have way more models than whats usually in stock in stores. Very helpful and can even direct you to nearest supplier for ordering.

I know a guy in Baltimore. He might be a vendor for Fantastic Vent (it is "vent" not "fan") that can get any model, with any option,in any color. The Fantastic Vent people literally build it to my, I mean his, custom order.

vintage trailer has a fantastic fan that mimics the look of the original look of the vents that came in the vintage units. I bought one for my 59

Fantastic recommends not using any cover over the unit as to not impede the air flow. As for the noise, at first I had concerns but guess what, not now, the benefits outweigh the getting use to. Definitely a buy item and an asset to my Airdreamer. When you order the unit be sure to mention that it is for an Airstream, they will include the face plate with the arched molding to fit the curve of your Airstream roof. When it is installed, which is a piece of cake, the unit looks like it was always there.
You won't be sorry.

Are there any considerations for curvature of the ceiling on the late model trailers? Special trim kits etc?

I take it the wiring is right there at the vent?
