Fantastic Fan Install
We have 2 fantastic fans to install this spring. I found this video very informative. Helps to ease my mind re cutting the aluminum, watching this video.
Did anyone have difficulty with the included gasket, or would TremPro 636 work just fine without the gasket?
Thanks and good luck!

I only use the gasket when installing on SOB trailers and motor homes. It works well on them, but not so much on aluminum.

What do you use in place of the gasket? I'm planning to install one (or two if I'm lucky) Fantastic vent(s) tomorrow.
Thanks!

It wouldn't hurt to round the corners when you cut the larger hole-relieves stress.

Another question on the Fantastic Vent (FV) install. After removing the original vents is it necessary to reinforce the area between the outside and inside skins before installing the Fantastic Vent? The original vent has a fair amount of reinforcement (aluminum) built into the housing whereas the FV doesn't. If reinforcement is necessary what do you folks use?
Thanks!

Hi David ... my husband didn't use reinforcement when replacing as he says that the fan was installed directly alongside a supporting beam / channel which supported the wires along the top. Hope this helps.

This past Sunday I removed the rear vent in our Safari and replaced it with a Fantastic Vent. Removing the original vent and installing the Fantastic Vent wasn't the problem, it's just time consuming. Figuring out a stable way to get and stay on the roof without causing damage to the roof was the issue for me. I used my Gorilla ladder behind the AS to put stuff on the roof and add padding and support for the Werner ladder. I placed 2 - 2x4's with carpet on the Werner ladder to enable me to sit on it. The Werner ladder will lock in an L formation, so I used the Gorilla Ladder to place the foam padding and support in place before I maneuvered the Werner ladder up top. It worked well.

The rear vent has no electricity, so I tapped into the light fixture next to the vent. The vent works great. The final photo in the link above so the installed vent, but it needs to be cleaned up.
Now, it's time to figure out how to do the front vent as I have a TV antenna blocking my access...

do these fans make a big difference on temp in the trailer? do you find that you don't have to run the A/C as much? and if you are boondocking, can you use the fans for any lenth of time?
I'm very interested in getting a couple of these fans too, that video is very nice. problem that i see for my AS is that it's got only one battery. It's new to me, so i'm not sure how long the battery will last under normal usage without hookups, and of course the fan takes juice to run.
Anyone have any experiance boondocking without a solar hookup and using these fans? not sure i can convince myself to install them, if i can't use them. Otherwise, your install looks amazing Pickerdd!
