Anyone have a work around for the bushings on the vent controller

Hi,
I have a 74 trade wind and need to make or get new bushings for the controller. The bushings keep the shaft centered and make the lid close all the way. Mine were nylon and have fallen apart. Anyone done a work around on this? Any help welcome.
