The first set of skylights that Maxim made for me were EXACTLY the size of the opening I'd sent them (wasn't clear that I needed to increase the size so they'd fit OVER the curb). David Thornton made two new sets .... which are now installed. Apparently, I'm not the only person who was confused when I signed off on the detail. He tells me that they have now revised the order form so this won't happen to someone else. I cannot say enough good things about the company and the product. And, they are gorgeous from the inside as well....much better than the Saran Wrap that came on my Int'l.

I have a new Maxim skylight - don't see any install instructions. Maxim isn't replying to my request - can someone post install instructions here?
Much obliged.

New Maxim Skylights
Ordered my new Maximum skylights today--decided on bronze, clear, clear with powder coat white frame to match the roof. Installation looks to be a piece of cake once you get rid of the old caulk. Decided to go with Sikaflex 505UV white to replace old caulk since roof caulk is always susceptible to UV deterioration. This product replaces the discontinued Sikaflex 721UV which has been discontinued. This is where I found this product:

Did mine 2 weeks ago. I decided to use Eternabond. Did both FF vents, radio and TV antenna while I was at it. Also hit all rivets with Captain Tolly's Creeping Crack Cure. Have had about 6.5" of rain since and NO LEAKS!.
I got BCC with clear anodized frames.

Thanks for the installation tip - I found all I needed on the AIR forum for my Maxim installation. At the first sign of rain I resisted temptation to run to the trailer and confirm it was dry.

Maxim skylights
Installed our 2 Maxim skylights today replacing the 8 year old factory ones. Thanks for all the information posted on the forum as they went in without a hitch. We choose the clear/clear on both and they look beautiful. Can't understand why Airstream doesn't put original ones in like this?

Going on my list of things to do. Not happy with the faded/fogged appearance of ours.

I ordered mine last week. The old one is out, the caulking gone and everything clean. According to David in Dallas, that is the hardest part of the upgrade. I ordered the Bronze, clear, clear. Should be here in two weeks, Looking forward to completing the project.

Maxim skylights
It's not really that hard a job and you'll be so happy with the new skylight. Just try to do it on a cloudy day as it gets really hot up there. Be sure to have pads of some kind to kneel on, and clean off the old adhesive, there probably isn't much there anyway. A drill for making the new holes and an electric screw gun work great. Check out the video that was made by one of the Airforum members as it's a big help. I was the helping hand on the ladder for my husband who was up on the roof. Took about 3-4 hours to install both. Good luck and happy viewing of the sky.

Another thumbs up for Maxim. High quality, fair price, and excellent customer service. You don't get all three very often.
Cheers,
John

I really want to do this as soon as possible but it means less time on the boat. Its cooling down here now so hopefully I will have pics to post up in the next week or two.

I enjoyed installing my first pair so much that I now get to install my warranty replacements! They arrived last week.

Maxim skylights
Have 2015 FC 28 and already have leaks in OEM sky lights. Live in Atlanta area with no Airstream dealers. Anyone know where in GA, NC or TN I can have these installed? I am not a DIY guy with roof issues.
