96 excella vent lid replacement help needed

I have the 34 ft excella 1000 .On the roof vent closest to the tongue I have to replace the vent cover.The other one was ripped off so i didnt remove it to see how it attaches.I have a new one from airstream but its not like regular vent lids .it looks to be held to the raising mechanism by springs and im not certain how the hinge fastens either.The new cover has a plastic plate glued in it with some grey sealant.this vent is the one with lights in it on the inside ceiling. can anyone advise how to replace this thing.thanx
