'65 Caravel Stove Vent Fan wires...

All 12 volt systems work (pump, Fantastic Fan, lights), except for the stove exhaust fan. I pulled it out and tested directly to battery, works. Lightbulb applied to stove vent wires does not light. Arg! Darn stove vent! Suggestions?

Your stove vent fan may be similar to mine. It sounds like you don't have 12 volts to the unit.

You can check the ground wire from the fan for continuity to ground to make sure that isn't your problem.

There are three 12v circuits in my trailer. Here is the wiring diagram from my 66 Trade Wind manual. The stove fan is on the same wire as the water pump switch and water pump. The red traces are 115v circuits. Hope this helps you in your search.

I get no ground tone on either wire. Odd part is on the wiring diagram is the vent fan is inline with the forward reading, central dome, sink and bathroom lights. I get ground tones on the lights. The sink light wires go into the skin only a foot or so from where the vent wires come out, yet when I wiggle them the other doesn't move.Click image for larger version

I'm almost convinced it's NOT on the circuit with the lights, no tone on either wire to wires of lights. And I don't think it's on the circuit with the Fantastic Fan, cause the FF works. I'm wondering if it WAS in the circuit with the FF and the installer didn't reconnect it...

Yep, that was it. The installer at the Airstream Dealer, when he put in the Fantastic Fan, simply taped off the "extra" wires and tucked them behind the FF frame. Dork.

Jeepers, BINGO !

Good job on diagnosing the "lack of 12 volts" to your stove vent fan. Solving a problem like this is one of the joys of working on an old Airstream. I can imagine how pleased and satisfied you were when you found the disconnected wires. Maybe you yelled YES !

Attaboy!
