1978 Argosy crank up vent problem.

One of my Argosy minuet crank up roof vents is missing the nylon bushings on the crank screw. Is their a source for parts for these vents or a sorce for a new (used) vent? Is their a new vent that will fit in the same opening?

I am guessing that you must have a 7.3 Metre Minuet as it was quite uncommon to have more than one vent on the 6.0 Metre or 6.7 Metre models. Often if there are two vents on a 6.0 Metre, it is an indication that an air conditioner once resided in the rear opening as that is where the factory/dealer would cut the hole for the air conditioner.

The main reason that I mention the possible issue of one vent replacing an air conditioner is that the option that I will mention would require extreme care to be sure that a vent installed in that opening were attached to 12-volt rather than the 120-volt wiring from the air conditioning circuit. In my Minuet, I had the original vent replaced with a Fantasitc Fan at one of the WBCCI International Rallys. It is a near direct fit in the factory opening with only the corners of the opening requiring a bit of trimming to match the square shape of the fan (the original Argosy vents have radiused corners and fit in a radiused opening). In the days before 30-AMP optional electric service at the International Rallys, the Fantastic Vents were one of the best upgrades that I made to both my Argosy and Airstream. I can't help much with availability of repair parts, as I have replaced all of my standard roof vents with Fantastic Fans.

Good luck with your Minuet!

Kevin
