I WAS THINKING ABOUT PUTTING AN INSIDE ROOF VENT FAN IN THE 14 INCH SQUARE OPENING OF MY HEHR ROOF VENT.DOOES ANYONE KNOW WHICH IS THE ONE TO GET AND WHERE TO GET A GOOD DEAL ON ONE? HOW MUCH DOES ONE OF THESE HELP OUT WITH THE SUMMER HEAT?DO THEY SEAL PRETTY GOOD?HAS ANYONE DONE ONE LATELY THAT COULD OFFER SOME FEEDBACK? I WILL BE SPENDING SOME TIME IN THE TRAILER THIS SUMMER.I DONT THINK I WILL WANT AN AC UNIT UNLESS THERE IS AN ENERGY EFFICIENT ONE LIGHT ENOUGH FOR THE UN BRACED ROOF AND NOT TOO COSTLY.THANKS TO ALL FOR ANY INFO. Fantastic Fan

Fantastic Vents are the best bar none. I just put one in myself. They are available at most RV supplys. I got mine at Camping World. I got the one with the rain sensor, thermostat. There are some great pictures over at airstreamphotos.com of an installation. Do a search for "dabler" and you will find it.

won't cool it down greater than outside air temp.....moving air over skin makes it feel 0-6 degrees cooler....bigger the fan and the more air movement-the cooler it feels.....humidity is a factor also-remove the humidity and evaporation from the skin makes gives the feeling of being cooler....there is no substute for dry air moving rapidly over the skin....geof

Fantastic Fans

I had one Fantastic Fan in my previous SOB triler and I have two in my current Airstream. On trips, I like to overnight in WalMarts, Flying Js, and an occasional rest area. The Fantastic fans are what makes this possible much of the year in our climate. I can run them all night without worrying about battery power.

With two fans, I use one blowing in and one blowing out. This allows me to keep the windows closed for security.

1962 Globetrotter 19 Ft. - - Fantastic Vents

Greetings Wayne!

The Fantastic Vent Fans as well as the Endless Breeze Fans are strictly 12-volt. These fans are quite remarkable - - they move a tremendous amount of air quietly and quite efficiently. I have two of the Fantastic Vent Fans that were installed by factory representatives on my '64 Overlander at the WBCCI International Rally in Dayton, OH (1999) - - the fans have the rain sensor, thermostat, and are three-speed revversible. The installed cost for the pair in 1999 was less than $350.

The Endless Breeze Fans are basically the Fantastic Vent Fans mounted in a box that can be moved anywhere in the coach where a 12-volt "cigar-lighter-style" outlet is available. They have been absolutely fantastic in helping to keep my Chihuahuas comfortable while attendint International Rallys. With the combination of Fantastic Vents and the Endless Breeze Fans, my Overlander has been quite comfortable under most conditions.

You can learn more about Fantastic Vent Fans at:

Fantastic Vent Fans

Good luck with your decision!

Kevin

1962 globetrotter fans

thanks kevin for taking the time to e mail,im really enjoying the people at this site,im a new airstreamer and im wondering how did i ever get along without all this.im going to pick up one of the fantastic fans tomorrow.camping world has the model you spoke of with rain sensor and thermostat for $229.00 and the bare bones version for $159.00. they say they do the install for $69.00 if your vent enclosure is pre wired already.i dont know if thats the case yet,but ill find out tomorrow.if not ill have to try to bring power thru off one of the nearest 12volt lites inside to the vent area.sounds like you really got the deal.they must of used your 64 for the guinea pig. at the rite place at the rite time.i only have one 14 inch vent in the 19ft globetrotter for a single fan installation.the other is the rectangle skylite opening.im looking into an a/c unit at that end.if i can find a good energy efficient one that is reasonable. ive heard a little about the old ones.(heavy but powerful) compared to todays a/c units. i heard somewhere you may need to add a brace in the roof to support them.probably so on an older model like my 62. i dont think it would take too much to cool a little one like mine.it was a ready to roll all original and complete trailer when i bought it in november, and proved to be road worthy on the trip to this years hobo rally.im working in the bay area and found a spot on the penninsula where i will rv park and reside in it during the week as much as id like to keep it all original im really needing to make it liveable. thanks again for all your info. regards wayne
