Windows won't lock open

I have one of two windows that don't want to lock open. I am assuming that the little Nylon piece has a tit that engages the holes in the window track? So I need a new Nylon piece for each side?

Your describing the "deluxe" window arms.

Sorry, but those are history and no parts are available,

Andy

Well there must be a fix. Mine is only 30 yrs old and is just a baby compared to some on here. I can make a new piece from scratch if need be. I am assuming it is the Nylon piece that is a wear item that needs to be replaced?

Perry.

Airstream at one time, kept parts for 30 to 40 year old Airstreams.

That took up considerable warehouse space.

Airstream has down sized the parts warehousing twice of the past few years, that I know of.

However, in their defense, they still keep some parts going back even to the 1969 models.

The small parts, such as you need, can take up gobs of storage space, and really don't add but a very little to the bottom line.

The space that was used for many of the older parts, is now used to produce various parts for the current production line.

I will take a peek at that nylon part and will get back with you, as to a possible answer.

Perry.

That "nylon" slider should not be hard to make.

I will check into it, when I have some time.

Airstream did have that "block" back in the 80's, but they no longer do.

I have an '82 with similar window hardware to what you are describing. I have replaced the front window with lexan and it is non operable. All of the hardware is still there, if those pieces match what you need and if can get them off with out breaking, you can have them.

Ok here is a photo of the mechanism and I believe the part that engages the holes in the window frame is the Nylon piece and in my case I am guessing there is a pin in the Nylon piece that engages the window track that has holes in it. My window won't stay open so I am assuming the pin has worn away.

My hardware is exactly like that. I have found that pushing the arm to the window side helps it catch. I have 1 window that does not cooperate at all; I unlatch from the inside and open/secure from the outside. It is a PITA but it works

My bathroom window catch is completely worn out. Sometimes you can bend things enough for it to stay open for a short time but the catches are gone. I need to replace some gaskets anyway so I will check things out then.

Funny, it is my bathroom window that I have to secure from the outside. I push the nylon tabs in by hand from the outside.
