Question Window Type??

Evening Folks,

I have a 79 Excella 500 and have some worn parts on some of the windows and as a result sometimes they are hard to unlatch when closing. I have seen a couple of different names used for the window mechanisms, what would ones in a 1979 be? You pull the handles inward to unlatch the arms allowing them to raise or lower.

Who or where is a good place for replacement parts? It looks like there are nylon blocks which have a round protrusion that fits into holes in an aluminum track. I think these are worn and loose on the operating arms.

Thanks,
Dan

Thought I'd run this by everyone again. I have seen windows mentioned by the name of Hehr windows but from what I have seen mine are different. Anyone?

Dan

Your wndows are the type used after 1969. Some of the components are still used on brand new trailers today, although with small changes.
A common failure on these windows were broken plastic window bars. Those attach to the sides of the window frame and hold the window open in three positions. Those parts are available from airstream dealers, or inlandRV.com
The two bottom window locks can usually be restored by cleaning and lubrication. They are spring loaded locking cams with chrome handles. Rubber window gaskets are still available.

uwe,

The problem I am having is that the blocks (nylon maybe) seem too loose on some of the windows and as a result they hang in the track and I have to go outside and use a thin screw driver to release them. I also think that I need to replace many of the slotted pieces that the arm work through, some are broken and most have the fuzzy stuff gone. I'll call the dealers this week to try to locate, I have looked all over the net but haven't found any so I was worried that they were not available.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the help.

Dan
