Window gaskets?

When I opened one of the side windows this weekend I noticed a puddle of water. Since I have never replaced all the window gaskets I guess it is time.
Does anyone know where to get the gaskets that go around the windows and how hard is the process to get them on? I'm sure there is all kind of advice on this but as I did a search everything under the sun came up.

They can be a pain to redo depending on how you go about it. First question I have, is have you resealed around the window frames with Vulkem? I had a couple of odd persistent leaks from there. Now onto the window gaskets.

They are available from most Airstream dealers by the foot. I bought mine from Out of Doorsmart I am hard headed and lazy, so I removed the window to make it easier to work on. I used a razor scraper and dremel tool to remove the old gasket and sealant. Then reinstalled the new gaskets following the directions from the board (and of course I can't find the link

) I typically figure on doing one a weekend...and don't forget to add the 6 pack per window cost to the materials list.

Double check if this is the right gasket for your year, I have a 1972
Here is the airstream part number:
Window and door gasket # 682520 your should be able to get from your airstream dealer.

Inland RV also has it Inland RV Part# 45295

Make sure to follow the directions, the 3M super weatherstrip adhesive really works. Andy from Inland RV has a really good step by step.

After I posted the thread I found the one done by Balgrn and it was a big help. It looks like I'm never going to get to start the polish thing, there is always something else popping up, The joy's of having an old trailer.

Here's my posting for replacing the window gaskets with pictures. From what I have read - silicon and Velkum doesn't not mix. Therefore, you need to remove as much silicon as possible.

I used a sharp razor blade to get between the gasket and the frame. What was left over was the adhesive - I used gasoline (believe it or not) to desolve the adhesive. You don't need much - I applied it with a toothbrush and kept a rag handy for spills.

I purchased my gasket from Inland RV.

The PO thought silicon was the best invention. Look how much he/she used. And I have to clean it up!

Well get ours from Out of Doorsmart, too... They are $0.79 per foot. InlandRV charges $0.80 per foot, so no big difference, but we need some more parts (so as Window Positioning Guides and soem other stuff) which is way cheaper at OoD... They have a great onlinestore too, although the gasket is not in it at the moment, but will be put in within the next few days.

They are the closest thing I have to a local dealer. It is about a 1.5 hour drive from my house to their facility. The parts department there is outstanding, they have special ordered several things for me in the past.

I would lov eto have something like that in my neighborhood...

I ordered the gasket and window stuff today. They (e.g.Dan Brown) are really nice and easy to deal with. It is another nice place to do Airstream Business with!!!

I think I got the tip from you, as you mentioned them before. Thank you for that!!
