Hi Joe:
As you begin your search for a
1964 window frame, please be advised that Airstream used two different types of side window frames during
1964. The correct one for your trailer depends on which factory -- California or Ohio -- built your
1964 trailer. The difference is apparent at the frame lower corners. The side window frames used most often by the Ohio factory had overlapping joints at the lower corners that appear to be square when assembled. The side window frames used most often by the California factory had 45 degree mitered joints at the lower corners, like a picture frame corner. There are other differences such as how the frame mounts and attaches to the opening arms, so it is important to get the correct inner frame for your trailer window.
Look at your other side window frames to see which type you have, then look at the serial number plate on your trailer to learn which factory built your trailer. This information is critical when searching for a replacement frame. Each type of window likely was also used in earlier 1960s trailers, and perhaps in
1965 trailers also, so don't limit you search just to 1964 model year Airstreams. Good luck!
