window arm rips screen when open

the window arms in our 1999 safari operate backwards and when opened rip the screen. the window arms need to be reversed, has anyone else had this problem or know how to solve it. Thanks

In the position it is in the photo, lift the long arms on both ends while pivoting the arm toward the inside (not turning the knob). Slide the spring toward the end of the tube on both ends and hook the spring into the grove in the short arm. Then turn the knob clockwise until the short arm, where the spring is attached, touches the outer part of the window frame (the short arm pointing outward, 180 degrees from where it is now). In this position connect the long arm to the window bracket, using the pin and retaining ring. This should hold the window open. Turning the knob counter clockwise should close the window without any part touching the screen.
