To tint or not to tint.

We have a 1965 safari and have an appointment to get the windows tinted in the morning. Having second thoughts. Opinions for or against?

We tinted the windows on our '81 International. We liked it. It was not quite the same vintage as yours, but it did seem to make the shinny bits brighter, against the black contrast of the tint.

It also gives the trailer a "cleaner" look to me. It softens the white curtains in the window from the outside.

I had the windows tinted on or 93 Excella, never regretted it one bit. Especially during the heat of summer. Really helped to keep our trailer cooler. When we get another AS, I'll have window tinting on the to do list.

We had our rear windows tinted on our 2008 International Ocean Breeze and love it. The tinting doesn't perfectly match the front windows, but I'd guess no one but me would even notice. We love the extra privacy the tinting affords.

Do you happen to remember what % yountinted with? We were thinking about going with 30 or 35. We still want to be able to see out at night. We would like it cooler inside and slightly more privacy with the curtains open if that makes any sense.

Just dropped her off. After the tinting guy talked for a while I devided to do a commercial tint. 30% and it has a slight silver hue to it. He thought I should have gone with the super silvery tint, but I like to at least see the windows are there. I picked this because with the slight reflection I think it will look less "tinted" and more like I just have super clean windows. But the trailer will be cooler for the dogs and that is the ultimate goal. I may even get to refrain from using the air conditioner all the time!!! I will post before and afters when I pick her up tonight.

The previous owner replaced one of my side windows with plastic. As soon as I can get that replaced with glass I am going to have all the windows tinted. What kind of prices have people been getting quoted for the job?

If lower inside temps are the goal, then you want "low-emissivity" film on your windows. You might try SolarGard Silver AG 25 Low-E film, which despite the name is actually an aluminized plastic film. To keep heat out, you would put it on the outside if the glass. That particular model of low-e film is supposed to block almost 80% of the heat that would normally be transferred through the glass.

Low-e film isn't terribly dark, though, so you might still add tinted film to the insides of the windows if you want privacy as well as cooler temperatures.

One caveat, if you use low-e film, the inside of the trailer will stay cooler, but the film itself will get hot to the touch. All that heat that's blocked has to go somewhere…

Does everyone here not have awnings or not use them? I removed every window out of my motorhome and scraped off the now purple window tint from the previous owners. I then went and had awnings added all around. It's like a cave in there now, even in heavy sun.

So I picked up the trailer and I am happy with the tint. It accomplished what I wanted. By getting the slightly silver tone it kinda looks like they aren't tinted from the outside. From the inside it makes a world of difference. I'll try to post the pics. Before and after. Just a side note, our trailer appears very shiny in these pics. It is not. Haha I enhanced the pics to see the difference better. actually, now that I see them posted, that is almost exactly how the trailer looks! HAHA I love my iphone!

I don't have much of a comment other than I love my tinted windows on our trailer, and they really do help keep things cool.

But really why I posted was to compliment you on that final picture in front of the columns. Very interesting- clash of curves and style with imperial structure. Use that in one of the photo contests!!

I don't have any opinions on tinting either, but I also think that last photo is great. The light reflections on the water and the light patterns on the building are fascinating to me. And the Airstream really stands out despite being dwarfed by the building.

We tinted our Land Yaught and they turned out great . It was a bet hard at first,But they come out very well we used limo black.

Interesting...most people went for the tinting. I don't like tint for the most part, too much of an out of doors person I guess

We have the silver tint on the bedroom windows only I also have awnings on all windows as well as the big patio awning. I use Reflectix in the windows if I want to darken it down or keep the excessive heat out.

After tax it was $338. I had a sedan done last year that was $300 so I didn't complain too much.
I believe the other half has dubbed the trailer "The Money Pit." Just wait until I tell him that we probably need to get the back floor replaced, get a new axel, and get it polished all in the next couplo of years.... That will be fun....
