Tinting Wrap Windows

Hey all,

I've been doing all the tinting myself (novice status, but pleased with the results!) until I got to the wrap windows. Those are just slightly complex curves. I'm using just a roll of 15% tint I bought online- does anyone have experience making this work? I also called shops and the bid range was $45-55 each :/ Does that sound reasonable if it isn't something in my DIY-ability?

I stopped at a local tint shop the other day asking just that question. They said they have done them before, using a heat gun to help shape the film to the wrap windows.

I would think that $45-$55 would be reasonable. If they mess up a few times getting it done, it's on them.

I'll be doing our Avion windows sometime in the near future.... except the wrap windows! I'll let them do those.

I tried the wrap windows, even bought a heat gun trying to mimic the pros, I don't have the patience for the learning curve.

I will get them done some time...

After giving it two shots I think I'm going to take it by the tint shop tomorrow. It's really hard to get it to do what you want it to! Thanks for making me feel better about letting the pros handle this battle.

It is an art,,, and the compound radius of those two front windows in the camper is much tighter, and the workspace is more confined.

These two windows are not a good place to learn the art of window tinting... My opinion anyway..

Glad for you. Problem solved and happy to boot.

I've got to strip off the tinting on mine, but fortunately no curved ones. Although the fact that most of them flip up seems like they'll be a pain.

When I bought it most of the tinting had already failed and was blistered and wrinkled. Thank god for YouTube. I really don't know what I'd do without it.

Here in Arizona, window tinting for brightness reduction and heat rejection is very desirable and very effective! Good idea on the single-pane glass in an Airstream, as well.

Man, I'm glad there are pros to do this meticulous, often difficult job! Doing a vehicle windshield or back window would be a real pain. We've got a local guy that works wonders with this on our vehicles.

We're considering having this done to some of our Airstream windows for the dramatic heat reduction and additional privacy. Reducing outward visibility at night is no issue at all, as we're not really interested in seeing out of our windows at night. I have a lot of respect for people who do this for a living.
