screen material

I have a dilemma with the screens. We have bought two different kinds os screen material and both have been too thick. I read where someone suggested nylon and would love to know if someone can help me out with where to find some and what size to buy. I have all the windows and the screen door to do. We even bought the smallest size spline and it still was too big. We are going to try again at Home D or Lowes with the 1/8 size spline since I read that is the size to use. Thanks for any suggestions on what size screen and where to buy the nylon.

I have put in both aluminum and pet resistant plastic but they are tough but not impossible. Regular fiberglass or plastic are much easier to work. Consider black screen which blocks some sun. I assume u have a spline tool.

FYI - I could only find the 1/8" spline at Lowes.

Thanks Toddster, we do have the spline tool, but my husband was afraid to put the last screen material in because a) it seemed too thick and b) he was afraid he would tear something up. Did you buy the material on a roll? Do you know what size/name it was? We are headed to HDepot and/or Lowes in about an hour and will inquire again about the thinnest screen material. Thanks for your help!

Thanks Lumatic! Your info was just what we needed. He will try again with what we have already. I will let you know if it worked. Thanks again!

I used standard gray fiberglass screen material with the 1/8" spline (on the door screen). For all of the other frames I was able to use the 0.140" spline material.
