replacing rear window/sash

Any pointers on replacing the rear window on my '73? It is getting tinted right now and I'll be replacing the old one that was shattered (but hasn't fell out) from my son playing hockey in the driveway. It attaching looks similar to the storage door with having to hook the top of the door just right to enable it to be closed properly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Rear Window Replacement

I have changed a side window on my '71. I have removed and replaced all the gaskets on all my windows. I drilled out the side tracks (cracked old ones) after removing the inside knobs and pulled the handles thru the frame. Hinge the window up until it unlocks from top hinge area. The window frame is in 2 pieces and the new glass has be be sandwiched between the 2 halfs. Save the gray "gasket" that wraps around the glass. I armor-alled mine to keep it soft and slick for reinstalltion. There is no replacements. Are you getting a replacement assembly tinted? If so then all you need to do is lube the "hook" hinge and center it inbetween the guide rivets and using pressure in the middle area slowly ease it down until it closes correctly. Work slowly as several tries are not uncommon. You can take the "c" clips off the rod attaching to the window on the outside. They are small and possibly rusted. Replace them with new "c" rings (sur-clips). Thsi way you don't have to take knobs and tracks loose.

rear window

I have a new assembly, so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem. by the info you gave me, Dave, I'll be trying. I may call you sometime in the next week, when I get to the window, for some advice.
