Replacement Window for '62 Bambi

Hey all, I'm in the midst of a full frame off restoration of my 62 Bambi and I have to find a complete replacement window for the front. It's a 39 inch window and the original frame is still there but the window was literally sawed out the frame to accomodate an air conditioner so I literally need the entire assembly frame, cranks, etc. I found someone who has one but he wanted me to make an offer and I have no idea what something like this is worth. Anyone care to venture an opinion? Or a window assembly for that matter. I'll pay a fair price for sure I just haven't the foggiest what that would be!

Thanks!

Steve H.

Steve,

I would pay royally for a complete and well functioning window, if you indeed found one. I have been tempted to buy entire trailers to rob a few small parts from them in the past, just to get exactly what I want.
Offer $ 100.00, and be prepared to pay $ 300.00 as a final price. That is what I would pay for a well kept front window assembly if I needed one. Especially if the one you are looking at is a direct replacement.

Thanks UWE!

That's good advice. As someone who's just embarking on a full restoration I'm learning a lot as I go. This window seems perfect and it appears to be fully functioning he sent me lots of pictures, and I have to factor in all the time I'd spend calling the wrecking yards all over the country.

Sooo . . . royally it is!

Best!

hi Chuck,

I've got the trailer out in Montauk and work on it on the weekends. I've got the interior gutted and the rivets are all drilled out and I'm about to lift off the shell, but the fact is, the trailer is outside and now, having listened to some tales of whoa I'm questioning the idea of lifting the shell off in a windy locale, outside. I'm going to try and find a garage or barn that I can rent for the period the shell is off and the frame work is getting done. A friend of mine who's a furniture designer is looking for space in Bushwick Brooklyn or maybe Redhook where I might be able to bring the trailer while I build up the inside, so my goal is by November to get through the shell off part and possibly bring the trailer back to the city. It ain't easy trying to shuffle all this!

Best!
