Is it a single pane window? What you can do is use a razor and cut the exposed portion loose and replace it with caulk.

Thank you for the response. Yes, it's a single pane. Is there a more solid approach, like replacing the seal?

Yup... I went overboard. Got a spring hook and razor blade to pick out as much “loose/dry” sealant. Replaced with polyurethane sealant (no silicone!!!).

window gasket replacement
Hi there,
It's a difficult job but can be done. I replaced all the window bead on my 2005 Safari last year. You can purchase the material from Pelland Enterprises. Just google them or call, they'll help you get the right bead, they will also send you a sample kit for $4.00. It's worth it, it will help you decide. If you need any additional advise, just let me know.

Thank you, Lynn! Are you able to briefly describe the process for replacing the window bead? We just can't figure out how it is done.

When replacing the window bead, there are several videos that you can google which will give you a better idea on how the process is done.

Hi Lynn,
Can you give me a link to just one of these videos? I don't even know what to search for. Everything I've found so far is just replacing the gasket on the operable windows. The wing windows are a different animal.

window bead replacement
Ok, depending on what kind of windows you have, I know most older airstreams had Hehr windows. Try looking under "replacing window bead on airstream trailers" in google. There's lots of threads and videos to check out. Some of them may not be exactly like your sitsuation but it should give you a better idea. In looking at your pictures, what I bought for my replacement bead is similar to what you will need. So when ordering your window bead, you first will need to know what kind of window you have, like I said they may be Hehr. Good luck, If you would like to talk to me more about it, send me an email at Aliner@frontier.com and I'll send you my cell #.

Replacing panorama window seal
I have a 1987 Sovereign that probably has the same window. My roadside widow broke on a trip. So, after I returned, I decided to repair it with Lexan and learned how they are made.
Assuming yours is assembled like mine, the seal in your photo has a U-shaped cross-section and cannot be replaced without removing the curved glass. That would be extremely difficult to accomplish properly due to the complex curves. It is my understanding that those windows were shipped completely assembled from the manufacturer to Airstream.
I did manage to install a new seal and Lexan panel in mine but it was difficult. I have put about 15,000 miles on the repair and it is still intact.
Sealing with polyurethane would be much easier, as others have suggested.

Good luck jack!
Keeping our airstream's maintained can be a challenge sometimes but I really do enjoy ours as I'm sure you do too. We've kept our 2005 in tip top shape, plan on replacing the brake plates and drums this coming spring before heading south. Takes a few dollars and some work but I like our AS better than the new ones. The floor plan and size fits our needs. Take care and again good luck!
