Please help with this Window part!

Hello,

I have looked through the forums, as well as parts guides at Inland RV and Vintage parts and have not seen any inquires/answers about this window part I need for my 68' Safari. I replaced the curved window near the front door, and it is missing most of these two parts which help the bottom window close, and which I can't quite identify. (See photo) it is a metal mounted bracket at the bottom of the window frame. The photo shows the bracket on the right, which is missing a crank that should go through it. The bracket on the left is missing entirely. Clearly I need to replace the window clips as well. I've also included a photo of the same bracket from the back window (see photo), which has all pieces in place. The bracket says "Philips Industries" on it. Thank you for your assistance!

Window hardware

Andy123, The Phillips spring latch assemblies have not been available for over 40 years. Your best bet to find any is to locate someone scrapping these '66 thru '68 Airstream trailers and secure the latches from them. They occasionally show up for auction on eBay but only rarely sell for less than approx. $75.00 each. That is very reasonable for a part that is otherwise extinct! If you can PM (Private Message) me your phone info I will call you as to a source that may have some available from a scrapped '68 trailer. Then you can call to see if they still have any to sell. Hope this helps! Ed

There is a special threaded nut inside the latch mechanism, that has a double start thread. That's called a barrel nut.

The rest of the 66, 67 and 68 latch mechanism has not been available for decades because of the cost of tooling to make those parts.

Tooling costs must be recovered in the sales of anything.

That's just not going to happen with that latch mechanism.
