Newbie tackles windows

Newbie tackles windows turns out more like windows tackle newbie. We have a 1974 airstream sovereign. The windows are in such a condition that I am not sure what gasket and seal etc. I need because I have no basis to be working from. From the picture I've seen on the forum. I am missing all rubber like items involving the window. Can someone explain what the difference is between the window gasket, weatherstripping, and fuzzy seal.

The fuzzy seal is for the lift arms as they go through the screen.

Window gasket and weatherstripping is one in the same. Just depends on what you want to call it.

Hi,

Well, I haven't tried to re-do the window seals yet (a bit scared as to how to get the window out). I did spend a fine weekend rescreening all the windows - it was a lot of work, but worth it - it really made the my 1976 feel new again.

I actually had the same question as you - what's this "fuzzy seal" stuff anyway? I did some searching of the forums, and it turns out it is the fuzzy fingers that line either side of the window opening levers to keep bugs out. You will need to replace the fuzzy seal when you redo the window screens. It is sold by the foot, and you will need to unpick and unravel one side to use it. I simply glued it in place with 3M adhesive.

Good luck!
