Newbie! Curved window shattered :(

Hi, we just bought a 1979 27 foot Argosy today. We didn't notice this when looking at it, so it could have happened as we traveled home, but our side window where the bunks are is shattered. It's a curved window. I'm so upset So, is there a way to replace it? Can a local glass company do a curved window? Help me please!!

You can get a replacement window from either Out of Doors Mart or Inland RV. It may not be clear though. I have also seen a guy on Seattle Craigslist that has windows.

Good luck!

And.... Welcome to the Forums and enjoy your purchase.

Do you mean that they would be tinted by saying they aren't clear? That would mean I would have to replace the other one also. I'm looking for the seattle guy, but no luck. So, local glass companies can't replace the curved window? Thanks for the help and the welcome

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your window! We just brought our Argosy home 2 weeks ago and I'm not moving it again until I get my window rockguard for the very reason you are currently facing...

the new replacement windows only come tinted and even at that I've heard they are $1000 each! I have no idea if a local glass guy can make one so I can't help you there but I know forum members are always saying to look for a donor trailer to find a window, you might get lucky.

good luck and let us know which route you take since we all learn from each other.

Do you mean one of the windows along the side of the trailer (like in the bedroom), or one of the front panoramic windows?

Hoping it's one of the windows on the side, because that's a lot less $$ and hassle to replace.

Hello Kimberlyjan:

Curved glass windows can be replaced with plastic or plexiglass windows. I've had them made up for boats I've owned. Just google for it. Lots of information there.

Airstream Glass

You might try the above link. Looks like they realize the problem and are trying to fill the void.

Good Luck -- Don

Contact your insurance company about the loss.

Which "exact" window was broken?

Is it fixed or does it open?

There are different curved windows.

No Airstream window costs $ 1000.00.

Not even a windshield.

Don.

Boat windows cannot get hit with a gust of 150 mph, but a travel trailer gets hit with that all the time.

Add your speed to the speed of an on coming truck or bus, and there you have it.

Those plastic windows usually blow out.
