Smile Need a Window Crank Messiah

If you can tell me where I can get a pair of these assemblies for a replacement window I ordered from Inland RV I will form a small religious group around you. More of a cult really but it's the thought that counts.

1967 Safari - Roadside front top window is the one being replaced. Have clips. but that's it, need cranks and the square housings.
Thanks to Andy at Inland RV - BTW No they haven't kicked Austin out of Texas yet. lol

check online and by phone, Vintage Campers. Peru, Indiana.
There's a reasonable chance they'll have two.
good luck!

I don't think they are available new or reman. You will need to check the usual sources for salvage. If I recall, there was a post a few years ago from someone who had made some for his trailer, but he had a machine shop.

Yep, I know they can only be had as salvage parts. Thanks for the tip and the name of the business. I might just have to suck it up and attach the clips to the window casing and have it be a "non-opening" window until I can find these guys.

All the large windows have three.....you need one.....middle one becomes a donor. You don't need all 3 on the front, most of them had rockguards, if not the air pressure driving will keep it shut. Different story on the back one.
Think it'll work?

I don't see why not. Only issue might be the window getting lopsided in the casing. Shoot I'll take 1 if i cn get any at all. No responses from anyone so far except you guys.

Window cranks

Sorry it took so long to respond...I work out at sea and as such am not in the loop for a month at a time.
Okay...what I can do is take a few photos of our cranks and you tell me if they are the right application for your unit. I just need to know what window you are speaking of.
Cheers,

Gypsea

Just a possibility. I found crank assemblies for my '64 safari in an old junked house trailer, don't even know the brand of the junker but they fit. It apeers they were used on more than just airstream.

I am interested in seeing the window cranks you have found. If you have a picture, please post it for us.

Window cranks

Took the photos yesterday and will resize them and post here a little later...they are the type that are on the sides of all the windows.

Cheers,

Gypsea

Let's see if I can figure out this newfangled thingy called a kompyootur...

Spaceghost65...let me know if you can use these. About the only other thing I will be removing from the unit are the original propane tanks and the maybe the whip antenna. All 3 awnings are in great shape and get used in spring and summer.

Gypsea > Not quite but if the internals are the same maybe I could retro-fit them.

I sent one along to a machine shop to see if they can recreate these. I will let you know if I am able to procure them and if anybody else needs them. I am tried of unanswered craigslist emails :/

Did you try Colaws RV Salvage in Missouri, Spaceghost? They carry many AS parts, and might have something for you...

I have a pair of OEM cranks only I will sell cheap. By the way you can get a crank that fits from a RV/ trailer supply, but it will look different.

Sorry so long in getting back to you on this...me and the Missus have have come to terms that this unit will most likely get restored and turned into the guest house as originally planned, so ware are not going to remove any parts from it. It's a good solid roller, (just towed it from Virginia to South Dakota last year)and wish to keep what we have as far as window hardware. Good luck on your project...
Cheers,
Gypsea
