How to remove the glass from windows?

I need to remove the glass from the window frames so I can clean & restore the frame. I will then use new weather stripping.

The current stripping is very hard.

Would it be easiest to break the glass out?

I am hoping someone has a trick so I won't have to do that!

I used a 1.5" scraper with a fine flat edge to slip in between the weather stripping the frame, the I lightly separated the stripping from the frame. I started on each corner. Once the stripping was 2" pull off, I was able to pull on it and get the rest to come off pretty easy.

Now the glass is stuck to the old inside window liner. I am afraid it will break when I try and dis-lodge it. Any Tips?

Andy. Breaking the glass is the best way. If you try to remove the glass, you will most likely break it, needless to say, wasting the time as well.
We replace the older windows with the AR-2. It's not cheap, but it works great and doesn't scratch, but it can break. Lexan is the toughest material, is not cheap, but it scratches easily.
