How do you remove Vista View shades?

I would like to clean up the Vista View shades on my '68 Overlander. Anyone know how to remove these from the window? The thin alum handle is gone from one and almost gone from the other. I would like to fabricate a replacement as well as clean the flaking brown stuff off of the shade. Help me please.......

Not sure about your '68 but on my '72 I had to drop the ceiling skin to gain access.

You will have to remove the inside skin above and around the window to get at the frame. The frame is held together by small screws that once removed will give you access to the window shade. I know it's not what you wanted to here. Good luck!

Ditto!

That's how the service manual shows to do it. If you need a copy of the schematic let me know I can scan them and email to you. Or post them here.
