Hehr glazing strip questions
We are now moving on to replacing the glazing strips and seals. We purchased the PVC strips from VTS. The old ones are literally falling out (along with one of our windows on the ride home!) we are concerned about breaking the glass when trying to remove the glass from the frames. We thought maybe we could leave one of the windows attached to the frame because it was really glued into the frame, but we couldn't get the strips in the tracks. Do we need to remove every window and strip it bare to make it work? Has anyone used these PVC glazing strips from VTS? How did you get them into the channels? So many questions.........

This looks like a simple fix, but our glazing strip is hard PVC and doesn't want to go into the channel. I tried to force it with a flat end of a screwdriver and did manage to get it to stay on one side, but wondered if should be this difficult. My glazing strip doesn't look like the one in the picture. I read that people were unhappy with the flexible type and this PVC type is closer to the original (it looks just like what is in there), but has anyone had success putting it in?
The PCV strips fit most of the windows on my 1960 Safari. There are two different types of window frames on my AS. I think the manufacturer used various types of frames at that time.
The PVC was a little loose on my window frames, so I ran a very small bead of vulkem to keep them in place.
VTS used to sell a variety sample pack of short lengths of various weatherstrips for just this reason. That's how I figured out what to use.
