Thumbs up Gravel under glass

I've noticed something strange about the windows in my '81 Excella 2 TT. Between the panes of glass there is something stuck all over the black seal that is sandwiched around the perimeter. The best way to describe it would be to say that it looks a lot like pink fishtank gravel. I've searched the forums but haven't seen anything like this mentioned. Does anyone know what it is that I'm looking at? Enquiring minds want to know.........
Thanks, P.

It is silica gel dessicant doped with cobalt chloride. Cobalt chloirde may be a carcinogen. It was meant to absorb water in the space between the panes.

The cobalt chloride turns the silica gel gravel from blue to pink, the pink color indicating that it has absorbed all the water it can and is no longer useful.
