Just wondering what the type of glue to use for seal replacement on the windows on my 31 footer? Is it a product locally available or a special product I need to order Thanks again Steve

Welcome!

Hi Steve, Welcome. I've heard good things about 3M marine adhesive. Try the search bar in the right upper corner lots of info there.

I believe this is the stuff sold by Inland RV - you can get it at an auto parts store also.

This is supposed to be the glue for seal replacement of the windows... but I can't see the picture. Could you please resubmit or give the name of the product. I have a Nappa store here where I can probably get the product. Thanks!

3M8008 is the black super weatherstrip adhesive to use.

DO NOT use the yellow adhesive.

I used the gaskets from Andy. Worked great and stopped all my window leaks. The adhesive on the back of the gasket is very good. If you have your frames clean and free of any dust or oil, you won't need much adhesive as they stick extremely well. You do need to use a little adhesive in the corners.

I got the gaskets from Can-AM RV Center and there is no adhesive on them. With the instructions from Andy and the name of the 3M product (3M8008), I will be OK. Thanks to all those who responded.

You must have received the original double flared gasket.

The "D" gasket is a far better upgrade to use.

It does have the adhesive backing, that can be used, but for additional gasket security, the 3M8008 can also be used.

Finally finished replacing all the window gaskets. Closed and locked the windows for 3 days. Some of the gaskets moved a little when compressed. Can see the edge of the gasket around the edge of the window frame. Really am pleased with the knowledge they are now watertight. Come on rain!

When that rain comes, how about redirecting some of it to southern California.

Here, we go to a movie, to see rain.

Ok, ok, Andy, I've gotta ask. Why not the yellow stuff (sometimes lovingly called Monkey Snot)?

Hi Lynn.

The yellow stuff is cheaper. So.......why don't the auto manufacturers use it???

Because, it does not have the holding power of the black stuff.

That's why the black stuff is called "Super".

And besides, the snot stuff is exactly that, snotty.

Andy
