Front Window Vent on 60's Airstream

I had a 1962 Tradewind and it had a custom vent (see attachements) which attached between the Window frame and window. It let air enter the window without having the window open. The unit stayed attached all the time and window would be shut but at an angle. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

That was an option, back then.

I saw one of these unusual window vents on an early 60's Bambi at the 2004 Rocky Mountain Vintage Rally. I studied it for some time and decided it was professionally made and installed. Was that a dealer option or installed by the factory?

Evaporative cooler or rainy day window vent . . .

Yes. The top two photos show one installed on the trailer Brad remembers inspecting at our rally:

1958Traveler_4105

It was a very nicely built aftermarket cooler and vent. It can be used in arid climates as an evaporative cooler by putting some thin or rolled up wet towels on the screens; cool air will soon grace your trailer. It can be used as a widow vent on rainy and windy days to some keep air circulating through your trailer. It was a thoughtful design well executed, a cool accessory for any trailer.
