Here is a recent thread FYI:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f44/...is-201365.html

Use a credit card [carefully] to get one lower corner free, and the rest will follow. We use 303 Protectant wipes. See Post #3 in that thread.

Yes, this. I have an old credit card in my wallet just for this. I have tried all manner of lubricants and potions in an attempt to prevent this with not much luck as the windows usually become struck again within a few days. I think I will invest in a set of window "poppers", which appear to work well.

I use a suction cup base from a dash board GPS. Relaese latches inside, then stick it to outside of window and with a small yank, it's open. No messing with the gaskets.
Good lucka

Except for those few cities who have ludicrously banned them for stupid reasons, that plastic straw you got in your soda works just fine. Flatten it and stick it between the window and the gasket and slide it around. It works better than a credit card since it is more flexible.

Lubes help, but still sometimes stick if it's been a while since that window was opened. I take an expired membership card (AARP, Good Sam, etc.), punch a hole in corner, hang it on hook just inside door so it's always handy.

Nice try but the straws were ban for a valid reason.

its best to apply a rubber safe lubricant to the rubber seals on the windows. this keeps them soft and reduces their chance to stick.

do NOT us a sharp object to open them
get some plastic pry tools.
an old credit card can be used

the same is true for the TC/cart/truck rubber seals. they are expensive replace once they dry out and crack. may OEM sell these products.

cheaper ones at the auto store or online

I just use an old hotel key card since I’ve switched from hotels to my Airstream!!

Slide it in at the bottom window corner then slide across. Lift window. Usually it’s just as easy (if not easier) to seat the arms in the various open positions as it is to do from inside. I also close the windows from the outside as I’m walking around outside getting the trailer ready for departure. Then go inside and latch them all up.

🙂

We use the "Bone Tool" find on amazon and silicone based cream often used by scub divers. This will lub the rubber seals and keep them soft and unstuck. Make sure it is silicone based NOT petroleum-based as this will destroy the rubber seals.

First things first

Before trying all of those suggestions, make sure both laches at the bottom of the window are turned to the unlocked position... I'm just saying.

Hi

..... and make very sure they go back to the locked position *before* you hit the road. Having a window pop open "on the road" is an expensive event.

====

A clean and lube on the seals never hurts. It also (at least for us) does not eliminate the sticking. Sometimes the windows stick, sometimes they don't. It's hard to predict when they will work.

If they are stuck and you release them with a tool, you can then raise them from the outside. There is no need to go back in to get them put up. Yes, it took a couple of passes to figure that out

I will add, the latches on my windows crank the windows down unnecessarily tight. I have started to adjust them so they pull in and slightly compress the seals. So far this is working nicely.

Full disclosure - I also use 303 protectant and I have started installing the window poppers.. Sticky windows drive me crazy...

Suction cup from Harbor Freight. It even comes in aluminum. Works great.

When stuck, I unlatch the window from the inside. Then I walk outside and use a spoon handle or quarter to pry the window open. I set the hold mechanism while out there. Easier than opening the window from the inside. Never really thought about trying to "fix" it. Not a big enough deal to me.

Please be careful using the "poppers". If a window is stuck because of the seals, by applying enough pressure in one small spot the entire window could pop, and I don't mean in a good way.

I made some "poppers" for my Flying Cloud, and if there's more than just a little resistance I go out with an old credit card and work around the lower edge until the window is released. (The poppers work great if the windows have been opened recently and need a little nudge.)

We’ve been happy with WindowPoppers. I don’t recall ever seeing a report that using them caused the window to fracture.

303 does NOT help preventing it from getting stuck. I have tried a light coat, a heavy coat, multiple coats, it does NOT help getting it stuck any less.

What works 100% is Window Poppers. I use one for the small windows. I use two for the larger windows.
