Curved side window replacement

I have a broken side window (curved glass) on my '68 Airstream. Are these windows still available from the dealer? How hard are these to replace? Can I do it or should it be done by the dealer? Is there any other place to get these repaired?

Thanks for any help,
Woody Michel

Curved Window Repair

My understanding is that the curved Corning windows that came on the 66, 67, 68 Airstreams are unavailable from dealers and are
hard to come by. You should check out www.iowaboys.com under
parts ... they had a couple of used ones for sale a couple of weeks ago ... they were in two sizes and upwards of $700 per.

Re: curved side windows

My 66 also has curved side windows. So far all are intact. How did you break yours? I am trying to figure out if they break, from use or impact so hopefully I can avoid an accident.

Inland RV have the metal trim pieces for your windows (mine do not use) and I believe they can fabricate a lexan or plexiglass alternative. They also carry all the operator hardware.

Go to Tom Patterson's website and search the VAC archives for previous posts on curved windows. Use the webglimpse search at the bottom of the page- when I entered corning I had a lot of matches.

Take Care

66 Tradewind: My side window was broken by vandals. I didn't realize how bad this was! We want to restore our Airstream and we will replace this window somehow. We would like to attend some swap meets for Airstreams if anyone knows of any in the Maryland / DC / VA / PA area. We need a owners manual for the Airstream. We really need to learn more about it. Thanks for the replies!

Woody. We have the replacement windows for the 66-67-68 trailers. The material is acrylic, but it is not plexiglas or lexan. Plexiglas cannot be used outside. Lexan is too good, it won't take on the side contour, and scratches. The material we use takes on the side contour AND you can scrub it with STEEL WOOL and not scratch it. We also have the metal moldings for them. There are three sizes of windows, 17", 29" and 39". They are all the same height. Call us at 800-8777311 to place an order, if you wish. Andy

Sure am glad to hear about the replacement material. What is the thickness and price for the 39 in. size?

Michell88,

I just purchased a curved window from vintage trailer supply. It is for a 68 Caravel.

Geno

We now have the original tempered glass windows for the 66-67 and 68 trailers.

We purchased almost 3000 pounds of the glass from Airstream.

Our most expensive window is $180.00, which is for the large curved.
