Curved Glass Windows

Would the rear curved windows from a 1974 Argosy MH interchange with the front windows in a 1974 Argosy TT ?

Welcome to the forum.
I am told they will interchange. Left front TT window would be right rear on motor home.

Yes.

You must make sure that they are installed properly, using Vulkem sealer.

Also, since the frames will be disturbed, you should add a bead of Vulkem sealer, to cover the gray gasket on the outside.

Interchange is not that easy & should be directed to the pros..the REAL pros.
The first pic shows the original roadside rear curved. I broke the passenger side
(with a weed-eater), my dealer was worried the replacement would not fit. Notice the
piece they had to insert to get the smaller window in? Nice work.

Wrap windows.

There are 2 sizes of wrap windows available.

There seems to be mass confusion at the factory, as to which one is which.

July 99 and down and August 99 and up, is supposed to be the dividing point

We have ordered both.

When we received them, they were different sizes.

We then ordered the old style, and received an "X" dimension. We ordered the old style again, and received a "Y" dimension.

We order the new style and received both the "X" and "Y" dimensions.

We ordered to new style, and got the old style.

We ordered the old style, and got the new style.

We ordered the new style, and got the new style.

We ordered the old style, and got the old style.

We ordered the same part number more than once, and receive different sized wrap windows.

Which one is which?

Which one is correct?

Darned if we know.

What we do know is that there are differences in measurements.

What dimensions?? Who knows, as it seems all of them, "sometimes."

We have to lay up both old and new style windows, to see which one fits better.

Big surprise. There is not one single explanation, as to what the heck is going on.

All that can be done, if you receive the right, wrong one, is to add a shim as posted above.

There is absolutely no guarantee, that if you provide your trailer serial number, that you will receive the correct window.

Bigger surprise. If the same part number is ordered, at different times, you will get both sized windows.

At this point, all someone can do, is make the one they receive work.

Sending a wrong dimensions wrap window back, offers no assurance that you will receive the correct one.

And finally, the one that fits the old style trailers the best,
has different dimensions from the original.

Mama mia, holy cow, holy toledo, and all those other expressions, doesn't help either.

And now, fellow Airstreamers, it appears that stack windows might be headed the same way as the wrap windows.

We suggest that when either of these two types of windows are ordered, that precise and accurate dimensions be provided, and preferably along with a drawing.

Sometimes, or so it seems, some simple things in life can get real complicated, on up to and including a mystery.

The remedy answers and suggestions we have provided, have not changed the issue.

However, there is one positive statement that can be made about wrap windows.

They are only available in solar gray.

Well said, Andy. I remember when I called Charlie at the Boise Airstream dealer and told
him I'd trashed a window; when I told him which one, he said, " you could not have broken a harder to fit window on the coach!"
