Curb side "eyebrow"?

Howdy!

Was cleaning our "eyebrows"/tinted rock guards and one cracked. Not real bad just a half moon shape at bottom center.

Can the tint plastic be replaced? Where can I source?

Thanks!

I'm sorry - I just don't know how to help you but felt like I wanted to reply because you double bumped and I didn't want you to feel ignored.

We broke one of our rock guards also and I worked at determining if I could get the plastic. After some work, I determined that it is available as a sheet, but I had to buy a 4 x 8 piece. The aluminum frame can be taken apart. You can pull out the old one and use it as a template. But the old (original one) is curved and the 4 x 8 sheet is flat. So you would have to flaten the old one for use as a template, then bend the new one. Probably could do that with a heat gun, or possibly just let it lay out on a really hot day. I ended up just buying a replacement from Out of Doors Mart for a couple of hundred dollars. The sheet of plexiglass was going to cost $100 or so all by itself.

BTW I still have the aluminum frame and broken plexiglass if anybody wants it. It is the street side guard.

I have a small crack in one of my curved ones. I don't think it is from an impact. If it was I think it would be a spidery fracture more than a crack. Something tells me that these curved pieces are subject to stress from heat / cool and have a tendency to crack. I plan to try one of two things, maybe both. My crack is about 3" long and vertical. I will drill a small ( very small ) hole at the north and south terminal end of the crack. This should prevent it from traveling. I may also take some epoxy adhesive and some tape and cover the crack from the inside. The plastic is smoked dark enough that it will probably not be visible from the outside. I noticed it a few months ago and it has shown no sign of traveling yet.
