Question Cover up instead???

Just purchased 1975 Sovereign. It is in great shape - no leaks, no rot, etc. The only problem is the windows, and the only problem with them is that they look ugly. Like so many other people have posted, the solar film between the panes has flaked off and mostly settled to the bottom of the window. It absolutely TERRIFIES me to remove the windows to clean them up if this is just a cosmetic problem. Being a first time AS owner, I don't want to create future problems (leaking windows!). I was actually considering covering the affected windows with a patterned or textured window film to hide the flaky mess. Has anyone else done this?? If so, could you give me your opinions on the results?? Any pictures would also be greatly appreciated!!
