Broken side window on 2017 30 ft Serenity

Had a mishap during a 3 week trip to Maine. Daughter tried to close a side window using only 1 of the levers. Window shattered. We are in Acadia, and have 2 weeks of travel left. Can an auto glass shop replace this or do we need to go to a dealer? And what should we do temporarily?

Cut a cardboard box to fit window. Paint it black with spray can. Duct tape from inside. Order window from Airstream after trip. Enjoy the rest of your trip. That's what I would do. Bar harbor at night. Thunder hole, having lunch outside at the only restaurant in the park, walk around the lake to work off lunch... 2 hr walk. Almost forgot, blueberry pancakes in the morning in Bah Harbor. Don't sweat the small stuff... Accidents happen to all of us. Welcome to the forum hedgley

If the concern is that great, and you're there for two weeks, contact dealers until you find one that can get it quickly to you and have it shipped local and replace it.

Thanks for the info and encouragement! We have found a better solution. Went to a tiny local hardware store and had a piece of plexiglass cut to fit just over the inside frame of the window. Drilled holes for the 4 side screw positions on the frame. Placed some thin weather stripping between the pex and the frame. Set this plexiglass on top of the window latches and screwed the screws back in. Be careful not too screw too tight or the pex will crack! And Voila! Can hardly tell we had a issue. Took maybe an hour to do. Now can enjoy the rest of our trip! Called and had a new window ordered that should be ready on our return.

Your solution was very clever. Didn't even notice on my tour this morning. Nice to meet you at the campground!

Broken side window

We broke the exit window on our 2015 FB FC. We lost all the hardware. Here is what the hubby did. We stopped and got a sheet of Plexiglass and skilll saw. We templated the window and cut to fit the window. Then he put a piece larger than the window on the inside. He took 6 long screws with nuts and washers and toggled the pieces together. We had an appt at the factory 6 wks later and 3500 miles later. Held like a charm. No leaks. We used a car shade inside to reflect heat. Even msnaged AZ at 119 degrees. Since it was our escape window we reviewed what we would need to do in an emergency. We went to the international rally with it and he received great compliments on the intermediate repair

Similar situation only in our case one of the windows wasn't locked and blew off on the road. Covered the window with heavy plastic and duct tape. Phoned Jackson Centre and they Fed-Exed one to our camp site, had it in 2 days.
We now double check the widows before hitting the road.
