Argosy Window Replacement - Glazing strip issues

Hi everyone, I am trying to replace the curbside curved window on my 1975 argosy.

I have everything I need ready to go, but am having such an issue getting the new window glass into the frame with the replacement glazing strip. This is the one I have:

https://www.vintagetrailersupply.com...-p/vts-477.htm

It looks exactly like the original, but I think it’s more flexible so it keeps slipping into the frame when I try to put everything together. I’m also not able to get it tight enough so the corners of the frame meet. Any suggestions?

Some thoughts on your glazing issues:
1. Typical single pane front awning glass thickness on 1975 Airstream trailers is 5/32" or 3/16". The sash channel width is 1/4". Sash channel depth is 7/16". Vinyl glazing, like you are using, is not compatible and will not work with these 3 dimensions.
2. Side awning single pane curved window sash channel dimensions are the same as the front window. Glazing requirements for this window depend on glass thickness. If your window thickness is 3/16" or 5/32", vinyl glazing will not work. If your glass thickness is 1/8", there are other vinyl glazing products that will work with your window.

Thanks Robert - if vinyl glazing will not work, do you have any suggestions of what type might work? I definitely notice the original glazing is a much harder material, although the shape/ridges are the same as the one I bought and tried to install.

Glass Thickness

How thick is the glass in your windows? That will tell us what will work and what will not. The thickness will be either 3/16", 5/32", or 1/8". I assume right now that you have 1/8" for the side window and 3/16" for the front window.

The system does not allow me to send you private messages for some reason. Try doing a Google search on: "Vintage Trailer Gaskets" then select the "Vintage Window Library" tab. Scroll down to Sections 2.2.1.2 and 2.2.5.2 for restoration options and more info on your side and front windows.
