Argosy Door window in

Hi Folks,
I wanted a window in my 1973 Argosy because I felt trapped in it without a view. Found a door at RV.revive.net and received it a few days ago. Not wanting to waste the time i got it in and here are the Pics. Thanks Boatdoc

Mom used to say, "Whenever there's a need, there will be a supply." Good going. Glad that you are mending.

Did ya rob the window out of the acquired door?

Looks nice!

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

Hi Splitrock;
I have tracked a partially busted door at R.V. Revive in Waterloo IA. The door may have been repairable but since mine was perfectly tweaked in and well insulated, I have asked Ryan to cut the top half off, crate it and ship it to me. Ryan had to brave a local snow storm but he got it to me within expected time frame. So, I got the whole thing with internal shade for $375.00 shipping and rivets included. It took some time to get it out and clean it. I had to build a tubular guide for the heads of the rivets so that I could center punch them well. Slipping drill bit can make a number on the frame. The only real issue I had was with the inner plastic frame for the shade. It was all warped from the heat. Using 1" X 1/4" aluminum flat stock I have welded a U shape frame. This frame then pinched the plastic between aluminum frame and inside of the outer skin making it for a secure installation. Today, being very warm we will make an attempt to install the door back on the trailer. Thanks, "Boatdoc"

P.S. Lewster, Thanks for great suggestion.

Awesome! I've had a friend in Waterloo since 1981. Nice people down there. Food is good too. There's big rolling hills going in there. I used to roll my International gas daycab in there and aggravate the locals on those hills:-)

Thanks for the reply.

Gary

We have a '75 Argosy and are renovating it currently and we too think that not having a window will make us feel a bit closed in. The site you mentioned is not active any longer. Do you know if most of the 70's Airstream doors would work on the Argosy. What year/model door did yours come from?
