Question '68 Sovereign Front Window

I am replacing the front window in my 68 Sovereign. It shattered one day as it was parked in the driveway. I don't know if a rock got it, vandalism, or self shattered as mentioned in another post.
I have the side and bottom frame pieces and free of glass, and got the hinge split and am cleaning it up. Is the other half of the hinge removable, or do I install the new window in the removable parts then screw the two parts of the hinge together?
I plan on using tinted plexiglas or lexan for the replacement. I talked to a family passing through last weekend in a 1960 AS that had put tinted plexiglass in a few of the window openings and were pleased with them.

Thanks for the reference. Looks like I'm on the right track.

Tom.

Use Lexan only, as it does not shatter like the plexiglass.

But, be aware, that unless you have a rockguard covering that plastic window, even Lexan, a blast of wind from on oncoming truck or big bus, can blow the window out.
