1976 Argosy wrap window install

It took me 6 years to find this window. I removed the old sash using a hammer and chisel to chip the olympic heads off. I then used a nail set to bump the rivet in a little and a 5/32 titanium bit to drill it out. On the replacement window I used a center punch to start the drilling process followed by the 5/32 drill bit. Somewhere along the line I realized that the holes from the new window to the old frame would not line up. I also have the problem of should I install the 3M tape or not. Maybe use silicon caulk as one forum member did. The tape that came out of my frame was brittle and dried up where as the tape from the 1978 Argosy looked like new although damaged. Any comments would be welcome. Thanks
