1964 Window Advice

Hello all,

Im having some issues with my windows. When I purchased my 64 it was missing the front window so after a few months, I found a Hallmark 12 from a 64 and bought it only to find out that my trailer has different model windows. I have had lots of trouble finding the correct model and was thinking of installing the hallmark 12 in the front and just having one different window.

I was also looking for a thread on restoring this particular style of window and was wondering if someone could point me in the right directions. Thanks in advance for your time.

The number on my windows is Hehr-C 2801 221 291

Attatched are two pictures of the windows on the trailer.

Taylor

Greetings Taylor!

Welcome to the Forums and the world of Vintage Airstream ownership!

Your windows are definitely different from those in my 64 Over lander. They look more like those that I have seen in 1965 Airstreams. There are numerous possibilities such as the coach being a very late 1964 production or an early 1965 delivered and titled in 1964.

Good luck with your investigation!

Kevin

P.S. -- A big difference between 1964 and 1965 would be the entrance door -- a 64 would have a door-within-a-door while a 65 would have a solid door with separate screen door.

Kevin thanks for your response. It does have some of the tell tale 64 features such as the door within door and stacked jalousie windows. Serial number is 24420116 Ohio if that aids in and investigative efforts. I believe this means it was 116 off the line? I may just end up having to customize the hallmark 12 to fit the interior frame.

My Ohio built 65 overlander does not even have this type of window. Mine have the grey plastic glazing strip, not sure what those are!

Greetings Taylor!

Your serial number definitely indicates a 1964. I. Suspect that it. Was built fairly late in the 1964 production run and may have a different style window for that reason -- or there may have been production part shortages due to what seems to have been rather high production numbers for 1964 -- these are guesses on my part. It wasn't unusual to find running changes to production during the Vintage era.

Good luck with your 1964!

Kevin
