Where can I get a door hinge?

Hello! This is my first posting. At the moment my 64 Bambi is getting a new axle, brakes etc. I finally sucked it up and put her in the shop. In the meantime I have many other issues to tackle. First, I need a new outdoor main door hinge (top). Somehow it got knocked in transit and is bent and starting to tear. Any ideas? I didn't find it at Inland RV.
Any advice appreciated.
Molly

Welcome to the forums. You may try Colaws salvage yard (try doing a seach for contact info) or start watching ebay or the classifieds here for someone parting out a trailer. Figure out which models have the same hinge so that you have more options.

Hi Molly -- Welcome to the Forums!

Too bad about your hinge. You'll probably need to troll around Airstream groups a while before you find the right item. I would suggest posting a digital photo in a wanted ad because some parts were used during several years' production and on more than one size Airstream. There are free classifieds here and at the Vintage Airstream Club. Perhaps the classifieds at Airstream.com? Cast your net as wide as you can. You could also try contacting Colaws RV Salvage in Carthage, MO. Good luck in your search!

Molly.

That hinge has not been around for almost 40 years.

We were going to have some made, but the cost was out of sight.

They can be repaired since they are made from stainless steel.

Great Advice!

Many thanks for the info. If I can't turn one up I'm going to see about repairing it, that's a great idea. I need all the help I can get. The plan is to take it on the maiden voyage for our honeymoon in early summer. We've got a lot of work to do!

1964 Bambi II door hinge

My hinge is damaged also. The door will still work. I have had a tear in my stainless hinge as well, but there have been no changes to it for the past 22 years. I think this was a single year hinge. I don't recall seeing another year or trailer with this configuration. Thank goodness it is made of stainless steel.
