What metal are Bargman handles made of?

does anyone know exactly what metal the Bargman L-77 door handles are made of? Our Tradewind was broken into, and they bent the door handle. It did not break, but now it won't close enough for the lock to engage the slot. I'm wondering if it can be straightened without breaking

You may have the last remaining unbroken L-77 . . . and when you "bend it back" it'll most likely break, as I believe it's a casting. Find the guy who did it, ask him if he's left of right handed, and break off which ever hand he names. I thought someone was making / fabricating a replacement but can't remember or find who . . . Someone will "pipe in".

If I could find him, I'd break more than his hand. He also ripped open my storage door, and I will have to find someone that can make a new one that looks like an old one.

I have a total of 3 left hand and 3 right hand Bargman L-77 locks right now that i am selling. I have in the past taken a rubber mallet to a plate and inside handle that was slightly out of shape. I went slow and pounder it back into shape. I would still reach out to this group to ask someone who has metal working experience about bending it. My opinion is yes it can be done. If you want to remove the handle to work on it, I will be glad to take some pictures to give you some help.

I'd give a left nut to have an L-77 on my AS.

I know of two possible options. PM them if interested.

TG Twinkie makes a great handle replacement, machined from a solid aluminum billet.

DesertAir27 has restored broken handles. Not sure if he'll do it for others.

MontanaBlue - our trailer was also broken into while in storage years ago (my parents owned it then). The locksmith that came out put a round handle on the door and kept the airfoil shaped Airstream handle. The new lockset and handle do not work properly and I am not able to confidently lock the door and it has even popped open on its own (including during the night at a trailer park). My trailer is a 1969 Safari 23' and the lock is to my right looking at the entry door. If your lock sets would fit this trailer let me know directly, I am interested.
