Van Nuys '47 Liner door handle 'hold back'

Hi All

I am looking for a 'hold back' for the door handle of a 1947 Van Nuys Liner.

Does anyone have one or know where I can get one?

The first pic is a close up of what remains of the hold back

The actual door handle

I think I have a pic off another trailer which might be what I need but it isn't very clear

Many Thanks
Sharon

door hold back

After reading this I came across a 53 Silver Streak and was amazed to see the same hold back. The door handle just slides behind the little arm on the hold back. The rubber bumper was just to protect the door when they bump each other. The door handle isn't actually held firmly, it just rests behind the arm and can move back and forth. When the door handle is turned it releases from the hold back arm. I took a couple of photos of the hold back and how it works. By the way, the 53 Silver Streak was very much like it's Airstream cousin.

I have the exact same hold back. Your door handle does not look original....does it work with the latch? I am looking for an original lock and handle now.

Good pics.....

I originally saw it on a Silver Streak and I'm hoping it will work on this one. The one I saw had a sliding catch that came over the handle

Annoyingly the base is there but not the little arm

The one I have would work with original handle I think but would need some rubber packing to raise it away from the body of the trailer Also its very close to the lights

Maybe I should look for an original handle instead.........

Hold back is the same as used on early Spartan trailers as well. Maybe you'll find one on eBay.
