Sticky Steps

Tried many searches... perhaps my keywords weren't happening.

The steps on our '87 Excella are really sticky/scrapey and also like to settle at a slight non-square angle when open and resist efforts to retract them. I've been disappointed with the performance of spray silicon on mechanical parts and I know that lithium grease will attract grit. Also not good. Any advice on getting these steps to behave?

Sounds like they have been tweaked slightly, maybe a little judicious bending would be in order.

Thanks. I'll try a little "grunt and push."
