Squeeking main door on new AS

Our new 2018 25’ FC has been great so far except for a crazy loud squeek on the man door. The bottom hinge is fine, the problem comes from the top one. Sure I can take it in under warranty but that’s a whole day there and back. I’ve tried dry lubricant spray to no effect. Is this a common problem and is there a common solution.

I saturated the hinges on mine with silicone spray, seemed to help. Got tired of the creaking.

The sliding gizmo that holds the open door against the side of the trailer was very stiff until I soaked it in silicone spray as well. Now it works properly again.

This is a regular problem on our Airstream. Sometimes the squeak is load, it is alarming. We tried a lot of different lubricants with limited results. Then, about ten years ago, a locksmith recommended Houdini Lock Lubricant. This stuff does the job on our Airstream door hinge. Houdini is our go to lubricant for many uses, and it even smells good.

I’ll gve it a try. Did you do anything special beyond just squirting it into the moving parts of the hinge? This thing is crazy, haunted house, loud!

Getting rid of squeaks

My Airstream dealer tech showed me a spray lubricant called Zeppreserve by Zep. I had to order it from the manufacturer. It stops squeaks, lubricates the window latches. Unlike WD 40, it soaks into the metal instead of drying the metal out like WD 40. I have used it on all 3 of my Airstreams. It works.

I just squirt into the gaps in each hinge. I have a paper towel in my other hand to catch any overspray. My hinges get loud like you describe.

Used powdered graphite on my doors a year ago using the lift door prosidure above. It took two treatments and the hinges have not squeaked since.

Thanks,
Matti

WD 40 isn't formulated as a lubricant but a water dispersement (40th formula).

Ditto on CWF/Mattirs
