Spring broken in outside main door hold back latch catch

The spring is broken inside of the outside main door hold back latch catch and I am wondering how to replace it?

I'm not sure if I am calling the latch catch the proper term, so I've attached a photo.

Pre-thanks for any suggestions or tips on how I can go about putting a new spring in there.

I think the parts are in working order, although I appreciate that they may break in the future. My main goal is to learn how to take off the existing part, remove and replace the broken spring and re-attach properly.

Thanks!

Drill out the old rivets, you can probably get a new spring at any hardware store, put a little sealer on the new rivets,I would use Olympic rivets, they just look better than pop rivets. Dave

Remove the 4 pop rivets with a # 30 drill bit.

Fix or replace the holdback as you wish.

Reinstall the bracket using four 1/8" pop rivets with a little sealer around the base of them.

Replacing everything except the metal bracket, is the way to go, as it's pretty cheap.

It's an Airstream dealer part.
