Screen door latch broken

We have an '05 28' CCD and on our most recent trip the black plastic screen door latch/hasp broke into two pieces.

Any one else ever have one of these snap? It is plastic, and it does the double duty of being the latching and opening device when using the screen door and it also clips the screen door to the outer door.

Is there a better replacement option available?

I don't know, but I wonder why they use plastic on the door. I can see using plastic on other areas that don't get much use, but not the door.

Our's broke under warranty and was replaced. Rather surprised to see such a delicate design on something used so frequently.

I think a new one is about $15 and it probably takes about 20 minutes to replace.

Hi, replace the broken plastic piece and see if it lines up with the door properly. If this piece wasn't plastic you would end up replaceing, maybe, a screen door frame or something much more expensive. Think of it, as like, a fuse for your screen door.
